Designer Spotlight: Frank Lyman

As a Canadian retailer, we like to make it our priority to offer styles designed & fabricated locally. But that’s far from being the only reason our Laura & Melanie Lyne brands carry collections from Frank Lyman.

Frank Lyman, a fashion veteran, made his first appearance in the industry as a travelling salesman at age 18. Six years later, when his family life required more of his time, he opted for something that didn’t involve being on the road. A short stint as a local insurance salesman was enough to convince him that fashion was his true calling.

That’s when he went back to his roots and joined the Joseph Ribkoff team, a dress manufacturer, where he moved up the ladder quite quickly. After 25 years of service, he decided to start his own business and launched Frank Lyman Design.

Seeing the light of day in 2001 on Chabanel Street in Montreal, the small Canadian business had only four employees, including himself and his daughter Stephanie (who will take over when he retires). Only six months later, they managed to build a network of retail customers and officially began their marketing efforts.

Two years later, after successfully making their mark on the North American retail market, they managed to infiltrate uncharted territory–The United Kingdom. Making their creations accessible to a larger audience, ultimately giving them more exposure.

Since then, Frank Lyman Design has seen tremendous growth–currently employing roughly 350 people including their head office location in Pointe-Claire, contractors, sales representatives, etc. His collections are now available in more than 3000 boutiques, in 60 countries worldwide.

His high-quality garments and on-trend designs are arguably the reason for his success. Elegant & trendy, his Canadian-made collections (98%) have made their way into the closets of women all over the world. In his opinion, women who are confident and charming, with a rebellious streak.

His jackets, tops, dresses, skirts, and pants offer timeless versatility to fit every woman’s style no matter her age, or taste. Whether keeping things classic is your thing; or you prefer standing out from the crowd–you are sure to find a look that’s right for you.

That being said, shouldn’t we all have a little Frank Lyman flair in our closet? Captivating, wear-everywhere pieces that take you from season to season effortlessly. If you ask me, that sounds like an investment every woman should be making.
