Phone, wallet, keys – check! While most women would never leave home without these three essentials, there are countless items that could simplify daily living, if you just carried them in your purse. We’ve all seen magazine features on the latest shades of lipstick and bronzer that our favourite celebrities are toting around, but what other must-have items would you consider adding to your handbag?

Read ahead for a list of essentials you may not want to leave behind tomorrow morning.

Sunny Days Ahead

Sunglasses are important all year round. Yes, the temperature is dropping as summer quickly turns into fall, but the changing season doesn’t diminish the importance of protecting your eyes. Whether you’re walking, driving or enjoying an outdoor break during your lunch hour, make sure to have a pair of sunglasses on hand.

Tip: If you’re having trouble storing a bulky case in your purse, save space by transferring your eyewear to a pouch that you can place inside a zipper pocket.

Silky Smooth

Amp up your look in record time with a silk scarf. If you’ve been scheduled for a last minute board meeting or you’ve just been invited to an impromptu work lunch, dress up your outfit with a little neckwear to complement your dress, jumpsuit or blouse and pant combo.

Tip: Rather than keeping your scarf inside your purse, tie it around the handles of your handbag for convenience and style.

Charge It!

We’ve all been there before – you’re on an important call with only one bar left on your phone. You instantly remember that you left your charger on your bedside table. Unfortunately, you’re in a public area with no power source in sight.  Can you end the conversation politely before your phone dies? Rather than hoping for the best in situations like this, keep a portable charger neatly stored in your purse.

Tip: Wrap the cord of your charger properly to prevent it from tangling or fraying.

The Sound of Music

The power of music is undeniable. The tunes you listen to on repeat each day, whether you’re lounging, at work or on the go can become a personal playlist you begin to associate with certain moments in time. What you listen to can boost your mood and promote a sense of ease. Keeping a portable pair of headphones nearby may be just what you need to get your daily dose of relaxation.

Tip: Invest in a carrying case to avoid damage. If you opt for smaller wired earbuds, wrap the cord neatly and place the device in a compact pouch.

Always Be Prepared

When it comes to matters of beauty and hygiene, a compact pouch you can stash in your purse may save you the trouble of having to make an emergency trip to the pharmacy during your already hectic day. A nail file, plasters, floss, tweezers, sunscreen and hand sanitizer are just a few necessities to add to your mini toiletry kit.

Tip: When deciding how to fill your pouch, think of what items you wouldn’t want to be caught without on any given day.
