Transitional Skincare Regimen

Winter, we’re done with you and we’re not talking about cold-weather dressing, we mean heavy, thick moisturizers too. When it comes to switching up your skincare for the new season, you may want to swap your coveted face creams, for a lighter alternative better suited for summer.

1. Hydrate

In terms of hydration, it’s important to incorporate a water based formula which will give your skin enough moisture throughout the day without clogging pores. “Swapping your moisturizer for something a little lighter is key,” says NYC based dermatologist Patricia Wexler, M.D. in an interview with Vogue. She recommends a hyaluronic acid when the weather warms up. “Our skin tends to hold more water in the spring and summer,” Wexler says. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally present in the body, a molecule rich in water and with elastic properties, which contributes in particular to fill the gaps between the cells of our epidermis.

2. Exfoliate

Exfoliating your skin is essential in so many ways – (no, not the harsh kind). We’re talking natural formulas with gentle application that feel more like a face polish. With regular exfoliation comes great skin. Not only does it remove impurities, it also reduces skin discolouration and pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.

Exfoliating helps to rid the skin of dead skin cells, which in turn helps stimulate cellular turnover. This means your skin will be smoother, ready to properly absorb your serum or moisturizer, and healthier. The frequency depends on your skin type and how your skin reacts to each exfoliator. Some products are more gentle and can be used daily, while others are infused with chemicals and are best to use once a week.

The glow is real, people.

3. Invest in SPF

Great looking skin begins with daily use of SPF. Not only does it prevent premature ageing, it allows for a healthy, more uniform glow and of course blocks harmful UV rays from penetrating the skin. You should always wear SPF, year round, but it is even more crucial during the warmer months.

Our favourite

We love that it contains soothing aloe vera, vitamins, antioxidants & nutrient-rich sea algae.
