Raise your hand if you’ve ever gone straight to happy hour after a 9-to-5 workday. We’ve all been there. With a busy schedule, sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in a day to stop at home before going out.

Fortunately, you’re in luck. To help you look your best when you’re in a hurry, we’ve put together an easy step-by-step guide on how to transform your make-up from day to night.

1. A Good Foundation

If you know that you’re going out after work, apply light make-up for a natural look. Opt for products with cream textures, since they’re buildable and look less cakey after a long day.

Moisturize your face and then apply liquid foundation, concealer and cream blush. Use a damp make-up sponge to blend it all evenly. Next, sweep a neutral eyeshadow over your eyelids. Fill in your eyebrows and apply mascara. For the final touch, use a tinted lip balm to keep your lips soft and smooth. You’ll be on your way to work with a fresh face in no time.

2. Cat Eye

If you want to draw attention to your eyes, the best option is to trace your eyelids with liquid eyeliner. Here’s the trick to getting it right the first time. Start from the outside of your eye and work inwards—not the other way around. Brush your eyebrows upwards with tinted brow gel and apply another layer of mascara.

3. Bold Lip

Nothing adds glamour to a look like scarlet lipstick. Whether you prefer fuchsia or a classic shade of red, the trick to a perfect lip is lip liner. Trace liner all over your lips before applying lipstick to keep everything in place. Blot you lips with a tissue and you’re ready to go.

4. Natural Highlight

A good highlighter can help make it look like you got eight hours of beauty sleep. With your finger, highlight the inner corners of your eyes, brow bones and cheekbones. Use a refreshing setting spray to make sure your make-up lasts. You can also use mineral water.

5. Final Touch

Right before heading out, spray your wrists and neck with your favourite perfume. Often overlooked, a signature scent is an excellent way to distinguish a day look from a night look.

Whether you go through all of these steps or focus on just one, the important thing is feeling good in your own skin. Remember that there are no set make-up rules to follow. Have fun with your look!
