Ho! Ho! Ho! It’s the Holidays

Moms, mothers-in-law, grandmas, aunts, daughters, granddaughters, friends—the list of people to spoil around the holidays sometimes seems never-ending. At Laura Canada, we’ve been thinking about our wish lists and put together a gift guide to help you get through your holiday shopping. You’ll find warm knits, soft scarves, show-stopping dresses and sparkling clutches for every woman on your list.

Priced Just Right
Do you want to find the perfect gift without the headache? We have two words for you: gift card. Almost every retailer offers gift cards or certificates. At Laura and Melanie Lyne, you can choose an amount between $25 and $250 to give to your friend, mom, daughter (the list goes on). You can pick one up in-store or order it online. It’s that easy!

Something Extra: Slip it into a festive holiday card with a nice handwritten note.

When it comes to gift giving, it’s always the thought that counts. Don’t get too hung up on what a present should cost. To help you out, our team has a few gifting ideas for every budget.

For the Perpetually Cold
In the winter, she’s usually the first one to suggest a night in cuddling up by the fireplace. As soon as the temperature drops below zero, she can’t leave the house without a sweater, a toque and gloves. Does this sound like someone you know?

Giving her the perfect gift this season can only go one of four ways. Look for something with fleece, wool, a warm lining or soft fabric. That means, pyjamas, gloves, toques, scarves, cardigans and of course sweaters.

Something Extra: I don’t know about you, but when I think about a warm night in around the holidays, it involves a comfy couch and a decadent spread of mouthwatering pastries—dark chocolate, cookies, truffles, I could go on and on. All that to say, try completing your gift with a baking cookbook like Sweet Bake Shop: Delightful Desserts for the Sweetest of Occasions by Tessa Sam. While she’s cozy at home, she can also indulge in delicious comfort food!

For the Glamorous
She likes the sounds of clinking bangles on her arms. Almost every outfit she wears has a touch of sequin or glitter and she’s no stranger to the high-impact accessory. Sound familiar? This holiday season, give her sparkling jewellery, a glittering clutch or an eye-catching dress to add to her collection.

Something Extra: After a late night out all dressed up, the best cure for sleep-deprived skin is moisturizer. Add the final touch to your gift with a set of creams, masks and other miracle products she’ll love. Are skincare products out of your budget? Make your own DIY organic beauty products to offer as gifts.

Let the gift giving begin!

Straight from Northern France, Pauline has great admiration for “baked-just-right-baguettes”, waffles, and sweets at brunch. Films from the '80s and '90s are almost a religion, and she adores reciting memorized lines from her favourite movies at any given time. Since she moved to Quebec, Pauline has developed a passionate curiosity for the reoccurring discrepancies between the “current temperature” and the “feels like temperature” advertised on The Weather Network. She also likes: reading in the metro, strumming the strings of her ukulele while dreaming of beaches and sunshine, trips to exotic places, Barcelona and GĂŒell architecture (and let’s not forget sangria of course), cats, Tom Hanks, Bill Murray, and The Beatles.
