After all, there’s only so much balmy dress-ready weather here in Canada and we might as well take advantage.

Up next, we rounded up the dress styles you should have on your radar and in your closet this season.

1. The Maxi Dress

Whether you’re headed to the beach or would just like to pretend, there’s nothing quite as chic and carefree as a flowy floor-length dress. This summer, fashion experts everywhere are saying it loud and clear: the longer, the better. Easy, breezy and most definitely beautiful, fun under the sun has never felt more natural than when you’re wearing a resort-worthy maxi in a mood-boosting motif.

2. The Shirt Dress

Polish up your wardrobe and look as pretty as ever in the dress you can wear just about everywhere. Deserving of the title of most versatile, this button-front style has two settings: fancy and casual. Add sparkly jewellery and strappy heels to dress it up for an outdoor cocktail party or pair it with a sunhat and wedge sandals for a family brunch al fresco. Will it be a whimsical print or solid colour? There’s no right answer, but the obvious one is both.

3. The Halter Dress

To wear over a swimsuit poolside or anywhere on a sweltering hot day, halter dresses really speak to the easygoing essence of summertime. Instantly transport yourself to a far-away oasis with the neckline of the moment and an iconic unbothered silhouette. For a waterfront stroll, opt for a frock that hugs in all the right places. For a restful day in the backyard, go for a loose-fitting tie-back option. Just take your pick among this season’s prints: everything from dreamy seashells to retro-inspired polka dots.

4. The Eyelet Dress

Unapologetically feminine and effortlessly coy, eyelet dresses are instantly at the top of our list. With their soft-and-sweet detailing and romantic rural feel, it’s plain to see why this style has become a recent fashion focus. Reminiscent of simpler times, secure one or two to wear on high rotation this season. White is the obvious first choice, but we wouldn’t shy away from a little colour either…
