As the end of summer nears, there are still plenty of warm beautiful days ahead of us. With that said, it’s also good to plan for the upcoming transition to fall, whether you’re looking forward to it or not. In terms of clothing, we’re starting to consider adding more fall-friendly pieces to our wardrobe. But the seasonal shift can also take place in other aspects of our lives and homes. A feel-good prelude to fall that covers all the bases.

Here are three ideas to help you kick off this transitional period in a highly enjoyable way!

2. A Well-Deserved Self-Care Moment
3. A Home Revisited

1. A Versatile Wardrobe

The season of transition calls for layer on layer on layer. When the temperature starts to drop, no need to switch up your wardrobe overnight. You can adapt it, slowly but surely, by opting for versatile garments that are easy to mix and match.

From Summer

Just because the summer season’s winding down doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to dresses. When faced with unpredictable weather, a light dress can always be worn with a bolero or cardigan. Personalize your look by playing with different materials, motifs and lengths. A long sleeve dress will allow for extended wear well into fall. To keep extra warm, layer on a faux fur cape or transitional coat.

To Fall

As soon as fall freshness takes over, pants pair effortlessly with all kinds of tops (even the ones you already have in your closet). Choose fabrics that prioritize comfort, without sacrificing colour or style: a colour block sweater, tencel shirt, paisley or geometric print blouse, etc.

From one season to another, jackets and blazers of all types go just as well with jeans on relaxed weekends, as they do with a pair of trousers or a straight skirt on workdays. Plus, these go-anywhere pieces are perfect for stepping out on chilly nights. If necessary, the addition of a scarf will add class and warmth.

2. A Well-Deserved Self-Care Moment

Midway between the heat (or heat wave!) of summer and the cold of winter, autumn is the season to prepare for change. You can begin this transition with some much-needed self-care, so you can rest and recalibrate. This can look like a home beauty and wellness routine or a stunning spa escape out in nature (the perfect opportunity to wear your swimsuits for just a bit longer!).

“New season, new you”, they say! As the kids head back to school, treat yourself to a new haircut or colour and feel refreshed. To change your look in an environmentally friendly way, turn to Green Circle salons that recover up to 95% of their waste to help the fight against climate change. A great way to take care of yourself, all while limiting your ecological footprint, one choice at a time!

3. A Home Revisited

Some designers consider the home to be our “third skin”. In this period of transition, give yourself the time to bring the between-seasons feel into your living space. How? With nature-inspired neutrals – including mineral grey – and inviting textures (wool, cotton, linen) in the form of cushions, throws or rugs, for example.

Just as your fall wardrobe embraces rich shades (fuchsia, forest green, terracotta, caramel brown) and distinctive patterns, feel free to draw décor inspiration from there! Add a few colourful accents or statement pieces (side chair, poufs, vases, paintings) which will revamp things just enough, without changing everything from top to bottom. And if the thought of seeing trees shedding their leaves gets you down, bring some greenery into your home with plants!

What sparks Fernanda’s interest? Humans in all their dimensions, arts and culture included! It’s surely no coincidence that, from a very young age, she felt called to study foreign languages. Speaking the words of your neighbour, she says, is the respectful first step to making their acquaintance. The desire to better understand others and life pushes her to read a lot. Really a lot. Literature, yes, but also everything related to psychology, spirituality, the environment… Dance – her secret passion – helps her express her creativity through movement; a whole different kind of communication. Her favourite pas de deux: Samba de Gafieira (Portuguese also being an attraction!) and ballet.
