Ocean’s 8
Director: Gary Ross
Cast: Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter
We stopped counting the sequels following Ocean’s 11, 12…13. But, logically, we expected an Ocean’s 14 to hit the big screen at some point. Everything changed when the producers decided to switch up the cast. Eight Hollywood starlets including powerhouses like Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett and Helena Bonham Carter grace the silver screen in an all-female installment of the classic heist franchise.
The highly anticipated film fulfills its promise to give new life to the Ocean’s saga. However, the plot follows the same storyline as the previous movies. A team of expert criminals plans an elaborate heist to get rich quick. Con artist Debbie Ocean (Bullock), assembles a band of women to rob a necklace worth $150 million. Here’s the catch: the necklace will be on actress Daphne Krueger’s (Anne Hatheway) neck during one of the most glamorous events of the year – the Met Ball.

Our favourite Marvel superhero (or anti-hero) is back for a second movie. As arrogant as ever, Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) puts his mask back on for duty. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again
Director: Ol Parker
Cast: Amanda Seyfried, Meryl Streep, Lily James, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Cher
Ten years to the day after the release of Mamma Mia! comes its sequel. And if you take a look at fans’ reactions on the internet, people are overjoyed.
In the first movie, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) prepares for her wedding on the picturesque Greek island Kalokairi, where she lived with her mother Donna (Meryl Streep) her entire life. The young bride-to-be is faced with a dilemma when she wants to invite her estranged father – or rather one of three possibilities. Not knowing her father’s identity for certain, she invites three of her mother’s past lovers to the wedding.
Now, Sophie is pregnant with her first child and she looks to her mom’s closest friends for advice on motherhood. Through this, Sophie discovers the story of how her mother found out she was pregnant. The past meets the present with a new cast of actors depicting a young Donna (Lily James) and the three charming fathers.
Can we expect another ode to the timeless songs of ABBA? One thing is sure, fans of the Swedish band will be waiting to get their fill of disco music. But the biggest question is what happened to Donna? To find out, we’ll have to make our way over to the closest movie theatre—and in the meantime get an ABBA fill with an impromptu karaoke night (with a lot of dancing!).
